Frequently Asked Questions
Where can I find the nameplate with my VELUX window code?
The nameplate (type sign) is hidden so it does not affect the window design. To find it, open the window and pivot the sash. The nameplate is usually near the top area of the sash (the moving part), on the left or right side. It shows the window type (for example: GGL or GGU) and the size code (for example: M08, MK04, or PK06). You need both codes to order the correct roller blind.
More details are in our guide: how to find your VELUX window size.
Can I return a roller blind if I do not like the color after delivery?
Yes. You can return the product within 14 days after delivery, as long as it is unused, undamaged, and complete. The exception is made-to-order products (special colors and sizes marked with a longer delivery time).
Important: genuine VELUX roller blind boxes have a transparent plastic window, so you can check the real fabric color without opening the box. Please check the color through this window first. If you damage the box or remove seals and then return the product, it can be treated as used and this may lead to a value deduction.
Do I need to measure the glass, or is the code from the nameplate enough?
Please do not measure the glass or the frame. This is the most common reason for ordering the wrong size. Genuine VELUX roller blinds are made to specific VELUX size codes. If your nameplate shows GGL MK04, choose size MK04 and it will fit without measuring. Please always select the exact same size code as shown in our roller blind configurator.
Do roller blinds from other brands (for example: VELUX or Roto) fit VELUX windows?
No. Even if the overall dimensions look similar, different brands use different frame angles and different mounting systems. For example, a VELUX roller blind will not fit a VELUX GGL window, even if the window size seems similar (for example: 78×118 cm). We guarantee correct fit only for genuine VELUX accessories made for VELUX windows.
Can I move a roller blind from an older VELUX window to a newer window (for example: a newer generation GGL)?
In most cases, no. Newer VELUX window generations (for example: V22) can have a different glass area and slimmer profiles than older models. Because of this, a roller blind from an older window (for example: GGL 304 or GGL M04) can be too short for a newer size code like MK04, even if both windows are described as 78×98 cm. We recommend choosing a roller blind made specifically for the current code shown on your nameplate.
Is it difficult to install a genuine VELUX roller blind, and can I do it myself?
Installation is simple and you do not need a professional. Many VELUX windows (especially popular GGL and GGU models) are factory prepared with the Pick&Click!® system. This means the window has ready brackets, and you “click” the roller blind cassette into place. Each roller blind includes a picture-based manual. Installing a manual roller blind usually takes about 10 minutes. You can also find a short installation video in the product description.
Does installing a VELUX roller blind require drilling or screwing into the window frame?
The roller blind cassette uses the Pick&Click!® system – it clicks into pre-mounted VELUX brackets without drilling. However, the aluminum side guides must be secured to the window frame with screws. These are supplied with the roller blind. Installation is still simple and takes about 10-15 minutes, but you will need a screwdriver and basic DIY skills.
What is the Pick&Click!® system in VELUX roller blinds?
Pick&Click!® is VELUX’s fast-mounting system for the roller blind cassette. Instead of screwing the cassette directly to the window frame, it clips into factory-pre-installed brackets with a simple click motion. This makes installation much faster and more convenient. However, the aluminum side guides that run along the window still require screws for secure attachment to the frame. The Pick&Click!® system saves time and eliminates the need for drilling into the window itself.
What is the difference between a manual roller blind and a solar roller blind in daily use?
A manual roller blind is a budget option and it is best when the window is easy to reach. A solar roller blind offers more comfort. You control it with a wireless wall switch, which is very useful when the VELUX window is installed high and is out of reach. A solar roller blind does not require any cables, and installation is almost as easy as a manual roller blind.
Why does the same roller blind have different prices depending on the color (Standard vs Premium group)?
The price difference comes from the manufacturer’s price policy, not from product quality. Standard group colors are usually the 2–4 most popular, universal colors (for example: beige, navy, grey, or white). The Premium group offers a wider range of decorative colors. The fabric type, mechanism, and durability are the same in both groups. If you want to save money, choose a color from the Standard group.
Is it worth buying genuine VELUX roller blinds, or are cheaper replacements enough?
Genuine VELUX roller blinds are designed and tested for long-term daily use (many open/close cycles and strong sun exposure). The fabric resists fading and stays well tensioned thanks to special tension cords inside the side channels. Cheaper replacements often fit less precisely on window types like GGL or GGU. This can cause light gaps on the sides and faster wear. Many replacements also do not have tension cords, so the fabric can start to wrinkle sooner.
Can I order fabric samples before I buy?
Unfortunately, we do not send physical fabric samples. However, we do our best to show product photos that match the real colors and fabric texture as closely as possible.
Can I pay by credit card without creating a PayPal account?
Yes. We use the European payment system Mollie, which supports VISA, MasterCard, Maestro, and other cards. No special account is required. During checkout, choose card payment and enter your card details like in any standard online shop. The process is secure.
I did not receive the order confirmation email. What should I do?
Please check your Spam folder first. Store emails are sometimes filtered by mistake. If you still cannot find the message, contact us via the contact form or email. We will verify whether the email address was entered correctly.
What is the shipping cost to EU countries, and is it fixed?
The shipping cost is fixed for all EU countries. It does not depend on the number of roller blinds in the order. The shipping cost is 19.00 EUR per order. You will also see the current shipping cost in the cart before you complete the payment.
What should I do if the estimated delivery time has passed and my parcel has not arrived?
The delivery time shown on the product page is an estimate and it refers to business days. If the time has passed, please contact us via the contact form. We will check the shipment status with the carrier. Delays can sometimes happen in logistics, but we always try to help and follow up.
Who pays for the return shipping cost?
If you withdraw from the purchase without a reason, the direct return shipping cost to our warehouse is paid by the customer. This is why we strongly recommend checking the window code (for example: GGL MK06) before ordering, to avoid unnecessary international return costs.
Do you sell spare parts for older VELUX roller blinds (cords, clips, side channels)?
No. We sell complete new roller blinds and accessories only. We do not service old roller blinds, and we do not sell individual spare parts (such as cords, clips, or rails).
Can I contact the store by phone?
No. We are a multilingual store, so we do not provide phone support. Please contact us by email or via the contact form. This makes it easier to verify window codes (for example, by sending a photo of the nameplate) and helps avoid mistakes with technical codes. We reply as fast as possible.
