VELUX FHC Energy Blackout Pleated Blind — Description
The manually operated VELUX FHC blackout energy blind is a premium solution that combines total blackout with exceptional thermal insulation. It features a unique double-pleated honeycomb cloth with an inner aluminum coating. This structure effectively blocks light and improves indoor comfort by keeping warmth in during winter.
Just like the translucent model, the VELUX FHC features the flexible “Flying Pleat” system. The blind is not fixed to the top or bottom of the window, allowing you to position it anywhere on the glass to control light and privacy exactly as you wish.
The blind runs in slim side rails (available in white or natural aluminum) that prevent light leakage at the edges. For the best summer heat protection, we recommend combining the VELUX FHC blind with a VELUX external awning blind.

FAQ: VELUX FHC Energy Blind (Expert Answers)
What is the difference between FHL and FHC pleated blinds?
The VELUX FHL is a translucent decorative blind that softens light but does not block it. The VELUX FHC is an energy blackout blind. It uses a double-pleated honeycomb fabric with an aluminum lining to block light completely and provide thermal insulation.
How does the energy blind improve insulation?
The blind features a “honeycomb” structure with air pockets and an internal aluminum coating. This creates an insulating barrier that prevents heat loss through the window in winter, potentially improving insulation by up to 26%.
Can I position the blind in the middle of the window?
Yes. The FHC blind features the flexible “Flying Pleat” system. It is not fixed to the top or bottom, so you can slide it to cover any part of the window (e.g., the center only), giving you versatile control over light and privacy.
Is this blind suitable for bedrooms?
Absolutely. Since it provides a blackout effect, it is ideal for bedrooms and children’s rooms where darkness is needed for sleep. The added thermal insulation also makes the room more comfortable during cold nights.
