FAQ: VELUX DFD Duo Blackout Roller Blind (Expert Answers)
How does the 2-in-1 Duo system work?
The upper part is a blackout roller blind for full darkness, while the lower part is a pleated blind that diffuses daylight. This allows you to choose between blackout for sleeping and soft light for daytime privacy without changing products.
Does the pleated blind also blackout the room?
No. The pleated blind is semi-opaque and designed for light diffusion and privacy, not for blackout. For total darkness, use the upper blackout roller blind.
Will the lower pleated fabric match the upper colour?
The upper blackout fabric is available in four colours (light beige, white, dark blue, grey), but the lower pleated fabric is always white. This is the standard VELUX DFD Duo design and provides a clean, neutral look from inside.
Which side guide colour should I choose: white or aluminum?
White side guides blend best with white polyurethane windows (GGU) and white-painted frames, while natural aluminum is a classic choice for pine frames (GGL) and a more technical look. Functionally, both options work the same.
Can I improve summer comfort even more?
Yes. For the best anti-heat performance, combine the DFD Duo roller blind with an external VELUX awning blind (MHL). External shading stops heat before it reaches the glass, while DFD Duo gives you light control and blackout inside.
